Dean Stalham
Dean is a self-taught playwright, poet, artist and community activist. He has served prison sentences for fraud and handling stolen artworks by Warhol, Dali and Chagall. While a prisoner he won a prize for his art from the Koestler Trust and later founded the Art Saves Lives community interest company. His plays have been performed at the Royal Court theatre and various other venues, and his latest production, Barred, will be performed at the Kino Teatr in St Leonards later in 2024. Dean recently produced a film version of Barred in Hastings. He edited a poetry anthology, Surviving Suicide, a collection of poems that delves into the subject of suicide and its connected mental health issues.

Alan Durant

Alan is an award-winning author of a hundred books for young readers of all ages, from picture books to Young Adult fiction. He also runs writing workshops for children and adults.

Claire Baldry

Retired headteacher and English advisor, Claire Baldry, lives in Bexhill and co-ordinates the local writer’s group ‘The Bexhill Quills’. She has published two novels and several booklets of poetry, including her most recent publication, ‘Bexhill in Rhyme’. Claire is now a carer for her husband, Chris who was recently diagnosed with both Dementia and Parkinsonism. However, when time allows, she still raises money for local causes through a regular schedule of engagements as a speaker and light-hearted performance poet.
